ABOUT THE BOOKLET

This booklet exposes the warfare over the Sonship of Christ that the enemy of souls is waging upon God's people. Satan was once an honoured angel in heaven, next to Christ. Satan got up a warfare over the Sonship of Christ, until he had to be thrust down to the earth. Though Satan was cast out of heaven, he has continued the same warfare upon the earth and he seeks to obscure the Sonship of Christ. Nowhere is Satan's warfare over the Sonship of Christ most intense as it is among those who are waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The old accusations continue to be circulated that some true Christians believe Christ to be a created being. These false accusations are being aimed at the very ones who are opposed to such a heresy, and who clearly advocate the divine Sonship of Christ. This fallacy will be thoroughly refuted and unmasked in the pages of this booklet. No one can be a true Christian while holding to the false belief that Christ is a created being. The vast difference between 'begotten' and 'created' will be very clear and obvious to all careful readers of this booklet.

WHAT THEY SAID OF HIM

Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in His fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is His name, and what is His son’s name, if thou canst tell?
— Solomon, king of ancient Judah who exceeded all the kings of the earth for riches and for wisdom (Proverbs 30:4; 1 Kings 10:23-25)
Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.
— Nebuchadnezzar, king of ancient Babylon who acknowledged the most High God whose Son he had seen (Daniel 3:25; 4:34)
Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
— Simon Peter, the apostle who waited not for kingly honours to crown his Lord but discerned the glory of the Son of God (Matthew 16:16).
Truly this was the Son of God.
— The Centurion, the ancient Roman soldier who could not refrain from confessing his faith in the Son of God (Matthew 27:54; Mark 15:39).
Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
— John, the beloved disciple of Jesus Christ (1 John 2:22).
If we take the liberty to say there is not a literal Ark, containing the ten commandments in heaven, we may go only a step further and deny the literal City, and the literal Son of God. Certainly, Adventists should not choose the spiritual view, rather than the one we have presented. We see no middle ground to be taken.
— James S White, co-founder of the Seventh-day Adventist Church (Advent Review and Sabbath Herald, July 9, 1851, page 101.13).
And the Son of God declares concerning Himself: ‘The Lord possessed Me in the beginning of His way, before His works of old. I was set up from everlasting.... When He appointed the foundations of the earth: then I was by Him, as one brought up with Him: and I was daily His delight, rejoicing always before Him.’ Proverbs 8:22-30.
— Ellen G White, the messenger of the Lord (Patriarchs and Prophets, 1890, p 34 {PP 34.1}).
God so loved the world, that he gave his only-begotten Son, — not a son by creation, as were the angels, nor a son by adoption, as is the forgiven sinner, but a Son begotten in the express image of the Father’s person.
— Ellen G White, messenger of the Lord (Signs of the Times, May 30, 1895, par. 3).
The Eternal Father, the unchangeable one, gave his only begotten Son, tore from his bosom Him who was made in the express image of his person, and sent him down to earth to reveal how greatly he loved mankind.
— Ellen G White, messenger of the Lord (Review and Herald, July 9, 1895, par. 13).
The dedication of the first-born had its origin in the earliest times. God had promised to give the First-born of heaven to save the sinner.
— Ellen G White, messenger of the Lord (Desire of Ages, 1898, p 51).
The Saviour never denied His mission or His relation to the Father. He could remain silent to personal insult, but He ever spoke plainly and decidedly when His work or Sonship to God was called in question.
— Ellen G White, the messenger of the Lord (The Story of Jesus, 1900, p 116 {SJ 116.2})
The whole nation called God their Father, and if Jesus had done this in the same sense in which they did, the Pharisees would not have been so enraged. But they accused Jesus of blasphemy, showing that they understood that Christ claimed God as His Father in the very highest sense.
— Ellen G White, messenger of the Lord (Review and Herald, March 5, 1901, par. 9).
Angels were expelled from heaven .… This fact the angels would obscure, that Christ was the only begotten Son of God ….
— Ellen G White, the messenger of the Lord (Letter to Elder DA Persons, 29 April 1910 {25LtMs, Lt 42, 1910, par. 3}).
Christ was the only begotten Son of God, and Lucifer, that glorious angel, got up a warfare over the matter, until he had to be thrust down to the earth.
— Ellen G White, the messenger of the Lord (sermon at Berkeley Camp-Meeting, Sunday 21 August 1910 {25LtMs, Ms 86, 1910, par. 29}).
